Xinhua News Agency, Lima, November 15 (Reporter Zheng Kaijun Wang Linyuan) On the morning of November 15th, local time, President Xi Jinping met with Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong during the APEC Leaders’ Informal Meeting in Lima.

Xi Jinping pointed out that China and Singapore are friendly neighbors and important partners. Under the careful cultivation of successive leaders of the two countries, China-Singapore relations have continued to develop, setting an example of mutual benefit, win-win and common development between countries. Last year, China-Singapore relations were upgraded to an all-round, high-quality and forward-looking partnership, which clarified the direction for the future development of China-Singapore relations. At present, both countries are in a critical period of national development, and next year will usher in the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Singapore. China is willing to work with Singapore to firmly grasp the general direction of China-Singapore friendship, strengthen high-level exchanges, adhere to candid mutual trust, respect each other’s core interests, continue to move forward hand in hand on the road of modernization, and open a new chapter of high-quality development.

Xi Jinping stressed that Singapore’s participation in China’s reform and opening-up process started early, covered a wide range of areas and achieved solid results. Singapore is welcome to seize the new opportunities of China’s development, continue to build cooperation projects such as Suzhou Industrial Park, Tianjin Eco-City, Chongqing Demonstration Connectivity and Guangzhou Knowledge City, further create new growth points for cooperation in the fields of digital economy, green development and artificial intelligence, and continuously expand people-to-people exchanges. Faced with the world’s century-old changes, China is willing to strengthen cooperation with Singapore on multilateral platforms such as the United Nations and the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Organization, and jointly advocate an equal and orderly world multipolarization and inclusive economic globalization.

Singapore-China relations are based on mutual respect and mutual trust and are mutually beneficial and win-win. Singapore fully understands the position of the Chinese government on the Taiwan issue, opposes any form of “Taiwan independence”, and firmly adheres to the one-China principle. Singapore has always been full of confidence in the prospects for China’s economic development and looks forward to continuing to participate in China’s modernization process. Taking the opportunity of celebrating the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries next year, a new chapter of all-round, high-quality and forward-looking partnership will be opened. Singapore is willing to work closely with China in multilateral fields such as ASEAN and APEC, oppose protectionism, promote trade and investment facilitation and liberalization, and maintain regional stability and development.
